Professor Clare Cable has been our Chief Executive since 2024. Clare was Chief Executive and Nurse Director of the Queen’s Nursing Institute for Scotland for over a decade and previously, Policy Adviser to the Royal College of Nursing.

Chief Executive

Clare has been Chief Executive and Nurse Director of the Queen’s Nursing Institute for Scotland for over a decade and previously, Policy Adviser to the Royal College of Nursing. She is a Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholar and has been Honorary Professor at Queen Margaret University Edinburgh since 2016. In 2023 she was made Visiting Professor at the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Clare is a strategic nurse leader with significant expertise in charity governance, finance, leadership development and policy. Her overarching vision is to unleash the creativity of nurses to be catalysts for positive change in the health and well-being of communities.

Description

The Burdett Trust for Nursing is governed by a board of voluntary trustees. The trustees direct the funding policy of the charity and make all grant decisions. They bring specialist knowledge from a wide range of backgrounds and all are closely involved in all aspects of the Trust’s work.
